Pepper Market update 21 July 2025

Black pepper prices closed slightly lower today, despite strong export figures for the first 15 days of July. Exports totaled 10,000 metric tons during this period, bringing the total from January 1st to July 15th, 2025, to 135,000 metric tons.

Regarding supply, imports through July 15th, 2025, starting from January, reached 30,032 metric tons. With a carry-over of 45,000 metric tons and an estimated crop of 170,000  metric tons, we are left with 100,000  metric tons until the new crop arrives in March 2026. This quantity is insufficient to meet global demand, especially with the 50% tariff on Brazilian pepper. Vietnam, being the largest market for Brazilian pepper, will find it challenging to import for re-export to the USA due to the high tariffs on transshipment products.
