Will Less demand from exporters push down Vietnam pepper prices?

While reduced demand from exporters could potentially affect Vietnam pepper prices, current market dynamics suggest prices might remain stable or experience some fluctuation due to a combination of influencing factors.

Here’s a brief overview of what’s shaping the market:

**Global Demand and Supply:** The worldwide pepper market is currently facing a supply-demand imbalance, primarily due to decreased production in major regions like Vietnam and Brazil. This supply constraint could provide support for current price levels.

**Export Trends:** Vietnam’s pepper exports demonstrated strong performance in March 2024, showing a significant increase in both volume (92.7%) and value (doubling) compared to the previous month. However, shifts in demand from key import markets such as the US and EU can still play a role in price adjustments.

**Price Trends:** The price of Vietnamese pepper has seen an upward trend, attributed to both smaller cultivation areas and greater demand. The average export price is currently around $7000 per ton, while domestic prices have been ranging between 152,000 and 162,000 VND per kilogram.
